Conversion Rates

The latest stats relate to "conversion rates" for top order batsmen. What is that you ask? Well for opening batsmen ducks and other low scores are an occupational hazard facing the new ball and the best bowlers - often using up quite a few overs at a low strike rate to "get in". The "conversion rate" is how often that having got to say 15 runs, that the batsmen goes on to get a 50 or a 100.

To produce these stats, we have only look a the top 4 batting positions for all Hampshire League games. We have also removed from the calculation, low scoring not-outs as this was likely to be from chasing a low score.

Joe Rodway tops the list albeit from relatively few innings but amongst the regular top order that have played most often, 1st team skipper Tim Noble shows his class going on to make at least a half century almost on 50% of every time he gets past 14 runs. Atty, Tom Burton, Alex Hall and Neil Prince all have more than 40% conversion rates.

At the other end of the table there are some slightly surprising results - for example Steve How has passed 14 on 22 occasions but only passed 50 once!

Sway legend Steve Keen got past 14 on 20 occasions but never converted, whilst the equally legendary batting maestro Mike Steadman made 67 innings batting in the top order....but only got passed 14 on 8 occasions and never made a 50 so is disqualified from this table!

Previous Stat Corners:

By popular demand, we have been asked to update the LBW statistics in the light of previous "Never been LBW" leadership contender Sam Nailor picking up an impressive an impressive 11 LBWs in the last 3 seasons.

The top of the leaderboard is now hotly contested by a raft of current Sway players. Andrew Straw playing in just enough games in 2018 to keep himself ahead of James Howard. Laurie Symons, George Lewis and Nial Gallagher are all close behind ready to take over should the leaders get trapped in front!
