Sway one step nearer Lords!

National Village Cup

Amport CC 110am  Sway 112-3

Village Cup First Round

Sway marched into round two of the Village Cup – for the first time in the club’s history – with a stonking win at Amport,

It was enabled by a good all-round bowling performance before Dan Bailey bludgeoned a brutal fifty in the chase – the visitors took just 16 overs to chase down Amport’s score.

Bailey was in swashbuckling mode and blazed a six and 10 fours on his way to 56 from 40 balls before he was bowled by a shooter. Along the way Hugo Chandler smacked a couple of boundaries, before an unbeaten 23 by guest skipper Adam Clark and a cameo from Tim Noble saw the visitors home.

Earlier in the day Amport were hindered by a dismal start as they struggled to 7-3 off eight overs. David Steadman (2-12), got the first breakthrough second ball of the game before two disastrous run outs – both courtesy of sharp fielding from Sam Nailor and Nathan David.

Nailor (1-20), bowled a tidy spell – his scalp aided by a terrific catch from ‘keeper Alex Hall stood up – while Jon Grasham (2-17) was excellent and Josh and Dan Bailey and Jon Waller all bowled well without reward.

Bets figures of the day however, went to the promising Nathan David; his 3-20 aided by catches by Tim Noble and Steadman
