2021 Junior season update
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Youngsters,
Just a quick note to let you know that preparations are well underway for the 2021 cricket season. After last years difficulties, we are planning for and expecting a full, exciting and fun season in 2021 !
As you are no doubt aware, outdoor sports activities can resume for sports clubs from the 27th March. Subject of course to the weather and being able to comply with any ECB guidelines we will look to start training as soon as possible after this date - individual team managers will contact parents in due course with their plans.
As normal we will be entering our usual roster of junior teams in the New Forest Junior Cricket League. The season scheduled to start on Friday 30th April (U9s) with U11s & U15s on Sun 2nd May and the U13s on Thurs 7th. The League however has agreed that the start of the season can be delayed by several weeks as a backup if required.

All Starts & Dynamos 2021
We will again be running this programme and are
awaiting details from the ECB. We plan to start this on the 15th June
and run this for 8 weeks. In the unlikely event that the ECB do not
officially run these programmes this season, we will run a programme
ourselves which is what we did before All Starts was created! Will
will be once again heading up this programme and will separately contact
parents of participants as these are held on a separate database.
For those parents with older children over 15
(as at 31st August 2020 = Yr 11 and over), there should be lots of
opportunities this year - in our 4 senior Hampshire League teams, Tony
Woodhouse Trophy games, mid-week local friendlies and hopefully also U17
Kerry Cup and ECB T20 competitions. If they are keen to play, make sure
we know! Details of open age training etc TBA.
For those who wish to book some additional
professional coaching there will be two options for parents here at
Firstly we have once again secured the services of Steve Bishop to coach at Sway which will obviously be more convenient for parents than having to travel to Bournemouth. Bish is a highly experienced coach and already coaches a number of Sway youngsters who no doubt will be keen to get back out in the nets with him.
Secondly, one of our 1st XI players, Hugo
Chandler is also planning to provide coaching sessions at Sway. Hugo
is a local lad who has spent two years with Hampshire CCC 1st XI working
on technical analysis before being appointed as a sports coach at
Millfield School, which of course has a reputation for sporting
Additional details will be provided in due course.
Members Use of the Nets
We are awaiting guidelines from the ECB with
regards to what restrictions, if any, will be required - so we do not
know yet whether or not a booking system like the one we had to employ
last year will be needed.
