Dan’s the man as Sway get back to winning ways
Easton & Martyr Worthy 154ao Sway 156-4
Hants County Div 1
A brilliant unbeaten 74 from Dan Bailey saw Sway stop the rot and win their first game in five.
Bailey’s knock – the only half century scored on what was a tough pitch all day – enabled Sway to chase the target with ease, having been in a tough spot early on.
After both openers went cheaply Bailey and Oscar Marshall did an initial rebuilding job before Jack Walton (24) joined Bailey.
Both batted superbly, Walton hitting two glorious drives in a row while Bailey moved up the gears and hit two huge maximums after settling in and a number of turf scorching boundaries.
Another huge six and a final boundary from Jayvier Dehning got Sway over the line.
Earlier in the day a highly disciplined Sway bowling showing saw them restrict Easton to 154, as the wickets were shared round.
Jonathan Waller (1-26) got things going – with Vito Falso taking the first of two smart catches in the outfield – while David Steadman bowled well and ended up with two scalps.
Jon Grasham and Walton each ended up with two, while the spin twins of Dan and Josh Bailey were also very good. The former got two and the latter one wicket, while Sway were very good in the field – with the exception of Waller dropping an absolute dolly. Thankfully it did not prove too costly.
