Sway/Lymo U17 225-4 beat Fawley 80-8 by 145 runs
Sway/Lymo U17s began their joint-club adventure together in the county Kerry Cup with a blazing win at Fawley.
On a glorious evening Sway/Lymo won the toss & batted. The opening pair of Josh Royan & Dan Bailey faced a pacy & hostile opening spell from Tona & Thomas with Royan bowled by Tona in the 3rd over. D.Bailey (72) soon began to dominate with the bat smiting five sixes & with Hugo Smith batting sensibly at the other end the pair put on 99 in 10 overs. Bailey fell to a sharp catch by B.Parratt off Bowen's bowling in the 13th over but any Fawley celebrations were short-lived as skipper Tom Burton came to the wicket & the pyrotechnics continued as he struck a quickfire 54 with four sixes in a partnership of 80 with Smith in just 5 overs. When Burton departed Smith was joined by Josh Bailey (18 n.o.) & the fireworks continued as Smith found his range until he was out in the penultimate over for a well-made 43. Sway/Lymo finished with a daunting 225 for 4 wkts from their 20 overs.
Fawley needed a good start from their experienced opening batters but the Sway/Lymo opening bowlers had different ideas as Charlie Inglis (4-0-14-3) & Freddie Pearson (3-0-14-1) each took a wicket in their 1st over. Skipper Burton shuffled his bowling pack & Arthur Lomax (4-0-19-2) & Josh Royan (1-0-3-1) took wickets while Dan Paxton & Josh Bailey both bowled tight spells to strangle the Fawley response in which only skipper Tona (18) really got going as they finished 80 for 8 wkts off their 20 overs.
A fine first win for the newly-formed Sway/Lymo team.
