Sway A just run out of steam!

It was a riot of run outs as Sway went down by just 8 runs to neighbours Bashley in a close-fought match. 8 of the 12 wickets to fall in the match were run outs, some superb, some unlucky & some plain senseless!!

Bashley batted first & despite some tight early bowling from Kris Locke (3-0-22-0) & later Josh Bailey (3-0-26-1) they steadily advanced to 92 off 8 overs before the 1st wicket fell with Taylor (25), Morris (30) & Hants Academ...y star Pardoe (39) all retiring. Some slick Sway fielding then began to make inroads as Hattingh (11) & Eede (0) were both run out. Then stand-in keeper Steve How held a sharp chance off Josh's spin bowling to dismiss Scott (8) & another run out reduced Bash to 119-4 off 10 overs. Sadly that just brought Pardoe back in to plunder runs until Jon Waller (3-0-45-1) found his edge for a 2nd caught behind. A superb last over from Kris with no runs off the bat & another run out last ball restricted Bash to a gettable 145-6.

Will MIllard (31) & Josh Bailey (9) opened the Sway response brightly until Josh was unluckily run out off a fluke deflection. Dan Bailey (5) should have known better than to take on Pardoe's arm & was run out from a superb pick up & direct hit. Enter skipper Steve How & it was from the sublime to the ridiculous as he & Will hesitantly met about halfway for a 'yes-no interlude' before deciding to return whence they came, sadly too late for Steve, run out for 1.

At a rocky 51-3 off 5 overs Sway needed a steadying influence & Jon Waller (8) provided it as he & Will took the score on to 92 before he was bowled. Kris Locke (23) joined Will & they had advanced to 112 when Will was unfortunate to be caught off a rebound, leaving it all to do for last man standing Kris. But he nearly did it, with a mixture of well-placed shots & some canny leg byes he required just 13 off the last over. Sadly the 'Kris Krushes Bash' headline had to be binned when he became a final run out victim of another superb direct hit as Sway finished up 137-6, just 8 runs short.

Krisitan Locke - coming to get your wicket!
