1st cruise to win over Islanders

Sway I    110-3 Ventnor II 109;

Sway ever needed to get into fifth gear against their visitors from the Island, claiming their fourth win on the bounce after bowling Ventnor out for 109.

The hosts welcomed back the pace and aggression of Jon Grasham for the first time this season, the seamer collecting three early wickets on his way to 3-19.  With David Steadman (7-3-23-1) at the other end bowling well and claiming the prize wicket to Westhorpe, Sway soon had Ventnor four down with not that many runs on the board.

First changers brought into the attack bowled with nagging accuracy, the pace and bounce of Ben Powis getting 2-16 and promising leg-spinner Josh Bailey (4-45), soon getting in on the act as Sway regularly took wickets.

Between them Powis and Bailey wrapped up the innings as Sway did a professional job in the field, with Adam Clark behind the stumps taking three catches.

In reply Sway had a wobble, losing skipper Tim Noble (6), Clark (10), and Dan Bailey to leave them 27-3. However, to complete the chase they had the two perfect candidates at the crease; Jack Walton and Oscar Marshall. Both players caressed and timed the ball well, taking Sway over the line in 20 overs. Walton notched 22 and Marshall a fine unbeaten 47, to maintain Sway’s fantastic start.
