HORDLE 80 , SWAY IV 213 - 6
Despite losing a couple of early wickets to Simon Williams Sway
4ths were soon rattling along as Chris Hammond and Richard May
put on 80 runs together. When Hammond was bowled for 45 by
Martin De St. Aubin ( 2 - 38 ) May and Clive Smith with a rapid
22 kept things moving. Williams got a 3rd wicket bowling Smith
but Hordle suffered as May and Andrew Sharp added 53 runs before
May fell for a exquisite 75 including 4 sixes. Skipper Derek
Seward was bowled by former Sway favourite Mike Race without
troubling the scorers but with Sharp 46 not out helped at the
end by Steve Hannibal Sway closed on 213 - 6.
James "Dapper" Howard and Colin Crosswaite gave nothing away in
their opening spells as Howard 10 6 10 0 bowled straight through
and Crosswaite picked up 3 early wickets. Breif resistance came
from Graham Toms, Charles Baker and Williams but 2 wickets for
Mark Wright, 1 for May and the returning Crosswaite ending with
figures of 10 5 11 4, it was only Joe Webb 11 not out who proved
troublesome and the final wicket was a League collectors item as
Hannibal bowled Race to leave Hordle 80 all out.
Hanni's only previous League wickets were in the 1st (only )
team in 2002 and 2003. 1 - 9 at Hunts Farm against Michelmersh
and Timsbury 3rds and 1 - 12 at Burley.
