Sway toil in the sun

Sway  93-8   Parley 251-7

Sway were beaten by a decent Parley outfit to dent the hosts promotion hopes.

The visitors won the toss and batted first and displayed their accomplished batting prowess to ease to 251 off their allotted overs in the face of a good Sway bowling performance.

However, in the field the hosts were not themselves, with several sloppy errors meaning Sway were left chasing 20 or so runs more than they should of. With the ball the excellent Jon Grasham, David Steadman and Aussie Brock Jeffries all claimed two wickets apiece, while Jon Waller got one. Spin twins Josh and Dan Bailey both bowled well without luck in the sun.

In reply Sway rocketed off with new opening pair Jeffries and Tim Noble (30), the former brutal on anything overpitched as Sway went to 62-0 off 13 overs and hopeful of chasing the target down. But that all changed when Jeffries (38) was superbly caught by the fielder who appeared hugely surprised to have got to the ball at all. After that there was a mini collapse and Sway at drinks were 92-5.

A few lusty blows from Alex Hall (33) added respectability to the score but by then Sway knew the game was up. With batting bonus points up for grabs and Parley visibly tiring, Grasham and FJ Charton batted consummately through to the close and both ended unbeaten in the 30s.
