Super U11s complete clean sweep
Sway 245-3. Bransgore 36ao
With the league title already in the bag, Sway U11s turned up en masse for this Friday evening fixture to get theor trophiesgiving the manager a selection headache. With the whole squad having performed so well this season, the names were drawn out of the hat! Thanks to the umpire and the Bransgore coach for allowing rotating of fielders so everyone could get a go on the pitch.
Sway batted first, opening up with Olly Marshall and Connor Treacey. Bransgore's opening bowler produced some tidy lines outside off stump as the innings got off to a steady start. Sway were soon into their stride and Marshall, who has only been dismissed once this season, pushed the average up by getting back into the hutch retired on 26. Treacey was also playing well and was just a single run from retiring himself, when he hit his own wicket playing a back foot shot.
Callan Wallis and Noah Lane-Glass now pushed things along nicely with some great shots before Wallis was bowled and Lane-Glass run-out by a fine single stump throw.
Olly Sharp and Luke Shearer also scored freely, Sharp playing some lovely shots before retiring and Shearer producing his best innings to date and with Marshall returning to the middle, the pair pushed the score on to record the largest score in the U!1s league this season, 245-3 with Shearer top scoring.
In reply Bransgore got off to a decent start, but it was not long before the Sway bowlers too charge. There were wickets for Sharp, Wallis and Marshall as well as a double wicket maiden for Lane-Glass. Along with a run out by Alex Condon and some strong keeping from Sebbie Allies, Bransgore were dismissed for 36.
Thanks to the young umpires, all the parents for their support and to Stuart Hudson for scoring - shame Stuart and Oscar were away on tour in Sri Lanka for the final game but that's a pretty good excuse! After the presentation there was then a team Pizza Hut to finish off a successful indoor season for both the U9s and U11s.
