Bailey's star as 3rds surprise Lytchett

SWAY III    159 - 6 LYTCHETT   156

Sway 3rds entertained Lytchett C.C at Pennington with the visitors a couple of places above Sway and despite only having 10 players they were in a confident mood.

P.Sparks and M.Tatchell opened the batting for Lytchett facing accurate bowling from Steve Drayton and Joshua Bailey and when these two were rested after 10 overs the score stood at 28 - 0. Ben Sanger then began his usual avaricious spell of bowling doing his 10 overs in succession having Tatchell caught behind by Pete Bennet for 24 and finishing with 1 - 28 including 5 maidens. Daniel Bailey removed Sparks in his first over caught for 34 and it was then only number three bat M. Wells with 45 who held things together as J.Bailey returned to desolate the batting with his leg spin claiming 6 - 34. Charlie Smith chipped in with a wicket and Mark Gillett on debut bowled tidily as Lychett closed on 156 all out.

The experienced pairing of Bennet and Jim Metcalfe opened for Sway and were looking in good form before Metcalfe chased a wider delivery and was caught for 16 off of Lytchett skipper V.Kochar.  Bennet also fell to Kochar for 23 as the seamer bowled an even more covetous spell than Sanger ending with 3 for 15 having also had J.Bailey caught. Wells picked up the wicket of another debutant Alex Hart and Sway were on 65 - 4 at drinks with D.Bailey and James Marshall batting. Wells had Marshall caught and bowled for 12 to finish with 2 - 30, however D.Bailey was now in full flow and with support from Smith they added 57 runs together to almost cross the line with Smith falling to N.Stuart for 16. Bailey ended up on 75 not out with 13 fours and it was left to Steve Hannibal with 2 boundaries to see Sway home in the 40th over.

Joshua Bailey - maiden 5-for - 6 wickets for 34 runs
