U15s just edged out on last ball against Bashley

Sway 86 for 6 Bashley 87 for 8

Sway U15s headed to Bashley with just 10 players as three of our regular line up were playing district games, including two of our three highest scoring batsmen and our top wicket taker.

Thomas Burton (cpt) played brilliantly, retiring and taking 3 wickets as well as some exceptional fielding.

Seb Harris and Bradley Balcombe both batted well. With both Bradley and Malo Holden succumbing to what were perilously close to being no balls, Beth Marshall and Catherine Allport finished the batting not out with Beth on our 3rd highest total.

Nonetheless, 86 was always going to be hard to defend with ten in the field but with a frankly brilliant bowling performance we very nearly did it.

Thomas Burton (3 4 19), Bradley Balcombe (3 4 18), Sara Allport (2 3 13) took the wickets and with Freddie Pearson (0 4 18) and Arthur Lomax (0 3 17) keeping the runs down and Catherine Allport keeping wicket exceptionally well it looked as though we were going to make it.

Bashley needed 3 runs from the last ball and with admittedly a little panic in the field they got it.

A good game and we play Bashley again in the cup on Friday with 11 players…
