The Sway 'BlueBelles' Ladies cricket team travelled to South Wilts beautiful ground for their debut hardball match to take on a relatively experienced ladies side.

Sway lost the toss and we were invited to bat first. Once the rain moved on, Maisie Sansom and Christine Dawson opened the batting. Maisie played some beautiful shots against a strong opening bowler but was unfortunately caught at square leg after a lovely pull shot didn't quite clear an unnecessarily tall fielder!

Fiona Willis was next in and this partnership settled themselves in and ran through to the 17th over. Fiona caused significant grief to the fielding team with several fours dispatched to all parts of the field as well as lots of nifty singles. Christine was run out after some fast fielding and in stepped Beth Morris to finish up the overs clocking up a fantastic four and leaving Sway with an innings total of 77.

The visitors fielding was going to have to be really tight to defend this score and it really was! Bethan Marshall, in her first over, bowled their opening batsman for just 4 runs we then claimed two run outs and a stumping by quick thinking keeper, Catherine Allport. South Wilts experience with the bat and quick running between the wickets finally caught Sway out in the 18th over but it was a fantastic performance by all. Well done Sway BlueBelles a great start. If you would like to join the team training is at jubilee field in Sway on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8pm or contact Lisa Marshall at
