Top Performance from U9s

Sway 291-3, Bashley 219-7

On a most pleasant evening, Sway entertained local rivals Bashley at Jubilee Field in front of a bumper crowd. Sway skipper Olly Marshall won the toss and invited Bashley to batfirst. Charlie Donnison and Billy Willcocks played some excellent shots to get the visitors off to a cracking taking them to 227 after just  3 overs. Some tight bowling, however, backed up by excellent fielding and catching got Sway back into contention. There were 3 wickets for Ollie Marshall and 2 for Harry West as Sway applied considerable pressure to the other Bashley batsmen and the visitors were unable to increase the score significantly, finishing on 219 for 7.

The Sway openers Jasper Condon (14) and Luke Shearer (12) got them off to a good start putting on 38 in the first 4 overs. Bashley then fought back to contain Sway in the middle overs and taking 3 wickets. However there was a final assault by Ollie Marshall (19 ) and Tom O'Callaghan (6) which took the score to 291 for 3 to record a convincing victory.

Well done to both sides for producing an entertaining and competitive game played in a good spirit. For Sway, it was an excellent team performance in which the batting, bowling, fielding and catching was of a very high standard.
