Sway BlueBelles bring home the silverware

Sway's newly founded ladies team did the Club proud on #W10 finals day, with three straight victories securing the Plate trophy.

First up was Porchester who Sway edged out in a tight game 275 v 261. Next was a victory 277 v 254 v Fair Oak then in their final game a 292 v 246 win over Ropley secured the trophy for skipper Bernie's new team.

With the bat the pairing of Julia Treacey and Lisa Marshall was unbeaten with a host of boundaries including a six from Lisa. Beth also hit a series of fours and six and Christine Dawson regularly dispatched balls to the rope.

With the ball, skipper Bernie set the standard with a superb hattrick and there was some excellent bowling from Beth, Jo, Chloe, Laura & Ally.

In the field their was some superb fielding and  a great catch from mother & daughter combo, Catherine and Laura Lomax. Keeper Fran did a great job behind the stumps.

The team had a great team spirit and the superb event was enjoyed by all - the ladies will be at the Club's presentation event at the Hare & Hounds on Friday 18th to receive some well-deserved plaudits.

Thanks need to go to many people and organisations that have made the ladies team and the W10 event happen. First to Vicki Allport whose inspiration and hard work got the team off the ground in the first place, but who was ironically unable to play herself as she has already played a league cricket game. Next thanks must go to coach Andy Harris who has brought the team on so quickly from a standing start.

Thanks also to Mike Pollard the HCB Women and Girls Development Officer and Emma Cowdrill  from the HCB Women and Girls Steering Group.

Finally, thanks to IBM Hursley for hosting this superb event.
