Oscar marshall's 1st XI to comfortable victory

FAWLEY II 149; SWAY I 150-2. Sway won by 8 wickets

A terrific unbeaten 68 from youngster Oscar Marshall helped Sway ease home after their bowlers had torn through the Fawley batting line-up.

Sway lost the toss and were told to field on what appeared to look a strip catered for batting, with a very fast outfield. However, the hosts were soon in trouble with David Steadman taking a scalp first ball and lost wickets at regular intervals.

In all Steadman claimed a four-for, while Nilantha Atapattu and John Grasham each got two, John Waller got one and there was a run out.

The visitors performed well in the field with a special mention for Jack Baughan, who made several stunning one handed stops. There were good catches from Atapattu and the returning Terry Steadman and Nathan David also bowled well without luck.

In reply Sway were cautious at the start with Grasham (23) crunching some nice drives before he became the first wicket to fall. Steadman (30) and the initially watchful Marshall shepherded Sway through without too much drama to dampen the host spirits before opening up and pushing the score along.

After Steadman was well caught trying to hit over the top, Atapattu joined Marshall and the pair responsibly saw Sway home, with the latter looking exceptionally promising the more he bats in a Sway shirt.
