1st XI hit form

CADNAM  141  SWAY   142-6

Hants County Division 3 (South)

A very good all round team performance saw Sway ease home against their hosts for a third win of the season. The visitors were surprised to be told to field given the green wicket and David Steadman (3-33) soon made inroads, as did Waller, who got Jewer plumb lbw, as Cadnam were soon 15-3.

For the hosts Hardy (48) was the one player who was a class apart and he rattled along very nicely after being dropped early on. But when he was caught by Alex Hall off Nathan David, Cadnam subsided in the face of a hostile Jon Grasham (2-20) and the accurate Nilantha Atapattu, who used the swinging conditions beautifully to claim three wickets.

In the slips there were three excellent catches, from Grasham, Tim Noble and FJ Charton, and all the bowlers put the ball in the right areas, bowling few wides.

After a hearty tea Sway made a good start with Noble (55) and Barry Jones looking good and easing the visitors past 70.

When Noble was the third out, thanks to an outstanding diving, outfield catch, there were a few jitters on the boundary but Atapattu played a very mature innings to see Sway home, hooking one maximum. At the other end wickets fell but Charton smacked a massive six to cheers and skipper Hall hit the wining boundary as Sway won with almost 10 overs to spare.

Best off the bat - T. Noble (Sway) 55
