U9s win exciting encounter

New Milton 243-6, Sway 247-4

Despite the chilly conditions the two sets of youngsters were involved in an exciting game. Sway won the toss and elected to field and a good opening spell by skipper Noah Lane-Grass backed up by some excellent fielding by Sebbie Allies and Theo Mitchell-Innes and brilliant catching by keeper Ollie Marshall and by Jack Wale restricted scoring the New Milton batsmen. Two wickets by Tom O’Callaghan in a single over put Sway on top, the final New Milton pairing launched a fightback and moved the core onto a defendable total of 243 for 6.

Sway started their reply slowly but some steady scoring by Marshall, O’Callaghan and Allies and some quick runs in the middle pairing from Connor Treacey put Sway ahead of the home side’s total which was then followed by Lane-Glass and Oscar Anderson defending well for the final overs to see Sway home.
