In the latest of the series analysing 5,098 individual sway bowling performances, we have had a look to see if there are some teams against which Sway tend to bowl better or worse. The table below is sorted by bowling economy and includes ALL games  - league, cup and friendlies:

As can be seen, the average economy ranges from a tight-fisted 3.38 v Alderholt to a rather leaky 5.34 against Wimborne.

Some of the outliers can be fairly easily explained. For example, the economy against Pennington is pretty poor but this may well be because most games are evening 18 over friendly bashes.

Obviously there is also a correlation between bowling performances and match results. As such sides where Sway have good records (Alderholt, Horlde, Fawley etc) are at the top of the table where as sides against which Sway have poorer records are at the bottom - Lymington, Calmore, Parley.

As matter of  pure speculation, if the table is sorted by strike rate, the four teams against which Sway have the best strike rate are Mudeford, Milford, Pylewell and Christchurch where the S/R is some 6 balls below the average. Perhaps it is easier/quicker to get a wicket near the sea?!!?

The table above includes both home and away games, but what about Sway's bowling record at specific grounds we hear you ask (not)?

This is shown in the table below:

27 Burley           236           30          1,373      45.77        5.82

Again Alderholt is the happiest hunting ground for Sway in terms of bowling economy, the crucial measure for HCL games. At the other end of the table, Sway's 100% losing record at Burley is clearly reflected in the economy of almost 6 an over and a bowling average of 46 per wicket!
