2015 league structure full of interest

The publication of the provisional Hampshire League structure for 2015 provides the first whiff of excitement for the next season and as ever throws up plenty of interest for Sway's four teams.

As ever the most changes are in RD4 throwing up lots of interesting games for Sway's 4th  eleven. There are four new teams in the division - Christchurch II, Dorset Indians, Lychett and Old Bournemouthonians. Dorset Indians appear to be a new club based in Poole. Lychett last year ran 4 league sides in the Dorset League so not clear at present whether the entry of a team into the HCL is part of a plan to move over to the HCL long term or just a matter of convenience for some players. There will also be a lot of interest in the encounter with Malik Kudmany's Old Bournemouthonians side.

Unlike last season it is also noticeable that Sway IV have the possibility of a couple of very lengthy treks to Wiltshire - to Winterslow and to Shrewton so it will a case of fingers crossed over the fixtures computer.

The 3rds, back in RD3SW will have the honour of playing the Club's first competitive fixture against Lyndhurst & Ashurst, who may well be disappointed not to be in their preferred North region. RD3SW perhaps should be renamed the "3rd XI league" with 6 third elevens in the division. Unlike the 4th XI there are no real long journeys with the furthest being Verwood and there will be games against just about all thelocal teams - Bashley, Lymington, Milford, New Milton Pylewell, Hythe, Lyndhurst, Burley and Langley Manor.

Sway 2nd XI are back in RD1W after receiving an additional promotion due to the withdrawal of Wellow & Plaitford and will be hoping to fare much better than in the previous year in this division. There they will face some familiar foes such as Brockenhurst, Pylewell and Ringwood and Exbury but also a few new names with the Club's first ever league encounters with Farley (stunning ground) and Winterbourne. Also the possibility of a nice jaunt to Damerham's beautiful ground where the Compasses pub is so close to the ground (80 yards) that the pub might get offered a place in CD2!

As is now well known, CD3S champions Sway I will be forced to spend another season in this division. There are a couple of potentially interesting fixtures - a first ever game against Rowner and another chance to play Hythe & Dibden I, the last encounter in drizzle in 2013 proving to be a very feisty affair. Sway will also play Mudeford's first eleven for the first time, and will also play Parley.
