Paultons give Sway an indoor cricket demonstration

PAULTONS  151 - 5 SWAY    91. Paultons won by 60 runs

Paultons kept their unbeaten league record intact with a comprehensive win over Sway as they put their cup exit firmly behind them.

Openers Andrew Collins and Tony Richmond attacked from the offset with a mixture of aggression and sharp running between the wickets rattling up 51 off the first 3 overs before Nilantha Atapattu slowed the rate with a tight over. Both openers and number 3 Rob O'Brien all retired and it wasn't until 115 runs were on the board that David Steadman bowled Simon Ennew for a duck to pick up the first wicket, followed shortly after by Atapattu ( 1 - 26 ) bowling Chris Ray for 18. At 129 the returned Collins was given out stumped by Adam Clark off of Steadman ( 2 - 40 ) for 32 although a no ball had been called and the batsmen should have been given not out, Rob Pike was run out as was O'Brien ( 27 ) and it was left to Richmond 37 not out to take Paultons through to 151 - 5 off their 12 overs.

If Paulton's batting was excellent, their performance in the field was even better piling so much pressure on the opposition that Sway's reply never really got going. Alex Hall was sharply stumped by O'Brien off of Collins early on and although Steadman hit 19 he was run out and Neil Prince and Atapattu both fell caught and bowled by Pike. Steve How also went to Pike ( 3 - 22 ) and while all this was going on Clark who had opened was still unperturbed batting at a Mike Steadman like pace he had run out of partners before finally reaching 25 off the 2nd ball of the final over, the excitement however proved too much  and he fell caught and bowled by Richmond next ball as Sway subsided to 91 all out.
