Sway too strong for Pylewell

Pylewell Park 84-5, Sway 85-0 Sway won by 6 wickets

Sway II proved too strong for a Pylewell side that was fielding a fair few inexperienced indoor cricketers. Sway won the toss and elected to field and it was pretty clear from the off that if Sway could dispose of the dangerous Stirling brothers and number 3 Doe, they would have a good chance of victory. Sway's bowling was pretty much on the nail from the first Matt Bramwell over and in just the second over T Stirling was run out for by the bowler Dave Marshall for a duck. Pylewell rallied somewhat but were in trouble again losing two absolutely key wickets in the fourth over when first M Doe was run out for 11 and then with the last ball Marshall bowled M Stirling leaving Pylewell on 35-3. Sway now really turned the screw and runs became rarer than hens teeth for Plyewell. Both Steve Drayton and skipper Dan Stevenson bowled sensible stuff, taking the pace off the ball as Pylewell could only find series of nudges and unproductive slogs against the side wall. The 5th - 10th overs went for just 38 runs in total leaving Pylewell at 73-3 going into the final two overs. Dan Stevenson then took a sharp low watch off Marshall to remove Sean Tranter and Marshall completed a rare wicket-maiden. Stevenson brought himself on to bowl the final over and the decision paid off with yet another tight over -  Marshall ran out the non-striker on the first ball then with their last wicket Pylewell could only manage a further 9 runs to finish up on 84-5 off their 12 overs.

In reply Sway openers Dave Hurrell and Ian Stone had no need to be in a hurry and were quite happy to pick up the ones and twos whilst the extras got Sway well on track for the win. As victory seemed ever more assured, Hurrell rolled back the decades and opened up the throttle playing a host of fine shots the highlight being a cheeky chipped off drive for 6  - a shot last seen some time between the cretaceous and the mesolthic. That shot could not be bettered so Hurrell returned to the bench 29 not out. It was left to Stone (25*) and Stevenson (5*) to steer Sway to a comprehensive 6 wicked victory off just 8.4 overs.
