Sat 13th August 2011 3rd XI remain on course for league title SWAY III 217 - 9, BEAULIEU 56 Having clinched promotion the previous week Sway travelled to Beaulieu hoping to keep their quest for the League title on track and came away with a resounding 161 run victory. Put into bat on a wicket still damp after overnight rain Sway struggled to get going against accurate bowling from veteran Alan Curtis and Ryan Owen and were in trouble at 14 - 3 before Robert Steadman and Will Baughan dug in and they took the score up to 50 before Steadman was out in the 16th over. Charlie Smith joined Baughan with the intention of seeing off the opening bowlers which they accomplished with Curtis finishing with 2 - 22 and Owen 2 - 42 and Sway at 76 - 4 at halfway. Baughan and Smith now accelerated the scoring putting on 87 runs for the 5th wicket and both bringing up half centuries, Baughan scoring 50 with 7 boundaries and Smith hitting 51 with 3 sixes and 4 fours before both were out in quick succession. Andy Glasspool hit a brisk 16 but was bowled by Simon George ( 3 - 45 ) and Sway were left at 186 - 8 with 4 overs remaining, Sam Harvey went caught by Beaulieu captain Alan Varley ( his 4th catch ) but last pair Chris Baughan and Dave Hurrell added 31 runs unbeaten to see Sway past 200 and picking up maximum batting points. Beaulieu's reply never got going as Sam Harvey bowled with great pace and precision removing the dangerous George caught behind by Glasspool then having Varley and Phil Morris both caught by Steadman before bowling Matt Figg and ending his spell with the impressive figures of 10 5 18 4 leaving Beaulieu in disarray. Smith kept the pressure on picking up 3 wickets for just 4 runs and Matt Brearley engineered a run out then wrapped up the innings getting the last 2 wickets at a cost of only 5 runs as the hosts collapsed all out for 56 giving Sway all 24 points.
