Sway I too strong for
Hyde
Sway 1st travelled to Hyde on a sunny day to try
and maintain their 100% season. Skipper Adam Clark lost the toss
and was asked to bowl. With big marine Jon Grasham absent young
Matt 'rabbit' Bramwell was his replacement.
Dave Steadman opened up and like
every other game bowled very well getting the ball to swing away
nicely. He removed Hyde's number 2 in the 7th over caught at
slip by Steve How with a good low catch. He got his 2nd wicket
in the 11th over. Finished his first spell with great figures of
2-14 off 7. At the other end Matt Bramwell was bowling well
picking up the wicket of the other Hyde opener with a fantastic
catch at slip by Steve How sending him on his way back to the
pavilion.
1st change
bowlers Steve Thistleton and Nil Attapattu came on and bowled
well, Thistle especially picking up 4 wickets and also thought
of his bank balance when a catch was put down for his 5th, was a
difficult chance but we'll say that's jug avoidance! Nil ended
wicket less and a little worse off with a blow to the arm. Will
Woodfine replaced Attapatu and bowled a good 4 over spell. Dave
Steadman and Steve How finished the bowling, How bowling well
picking up a wicket in each over finishing with 3-3. Hyde were
restricted to 152 all out. Sway again showing how good they are
out in the field even on a bobbly new forest outfield.
Usual opening pair
of Adam Clark and Alex Hall started well, hitting their shots
and running the quick singles well. Skipper Adam rode his luck
early on being dropped twice and was eventually caught behind
for 17. This brought in Terry Steadman who batted well with
Alex. Boundaries were still coming and both were running well.
Hall playing nicely even when the opener caught him on the
helmet, he was eventually bowled by the left arm opener, eyes
lit up for a full ball and played on for a good 34.
This brought in Kev
Glass who didn’t trouble the scorers and unfortunately got a
good in-swinger and was bowled for a golden. Steve How was next
in to face a potential hat-trick, Squeak managed to avoid the
embarrassment and play a few nice shots until he got a shooter
and was sent back to the pavilion lbw. This brought in young
Dave Steadman, to partner his brother. Both played very well,
Dave hitting the spinner all-round the park with some great
cover drives. Terry and Dave finally fell, both playing well,
Terry making 38 and Dave 23 respectively. This brought the
injured Nilantha Attapatu and Alex ‘fight club’ Rubyxz who both
scored well, especially Ruby hitting some glorious drives and
bringing the game home.
All round another
good win for sway with a few faces missing. Shows the depth sway
have this year.
