REGIONAL
DIVISION 4 SW
BOURNEMOUTH
VI 128 - 8 SWAY III 129 - 2. Sway won by 8 wickets
When the
Bournemouth team eventually arrived at Pennington having
travelled to Lyndhurst by mistake (which must have been
a lot of fun!) they batted first on a green evenly paced
pitch. Charlie Smith picked up the wickets of both
openers having Grant Woolley lbw and Rob Pack caught at
mid off by Pete Hammett bringing together Elliot
Leadbeater and run-meister Neil Pack and these two
settled down playing some nice shots and seeing
Bournemouth through to drinks at 64 - 2. As so often
happens a wicket went down in the first over after the
break Leadbeater ( 18 ) brilliantly caught one handed at
slip by the diving Smith off of Steve Drayton and next
ball Alex Bowes was caught by Rick How at square leg.
Pack continued on scoring at one end whilst Drayton
gradually picked up wickets at the other with Drayton
finishing his spell taking 5 - 31 and Pack hitting an
unbeaten 58 as Bournemouth closed on 128 - 8.
Sway got
away to a flying start as Andrew Straw and Laurie Symons
put on 50 for the first wicket with Straw effortlessly
hitting boundaries all around the ground as the young
Bournemouth attack was switched around to try and pick
up early wickets. It was Bowes ( 2 - 14 ) who did strike
having Symons caught in the covers and he then bowled
Straw who looked well set having hit 10 fours in his 48.
That was as good as it got for Bouremouth as Casper Todd
48 n.o and Rick How 20 n.o comfortably knocked off the
70 runs needed for victory passing the required total in
the 29th over.
Next
Saturday looks like being a crucial week in this
division as the top four teams all play each other with
Pylewell Park II travelling to Woodside to play
Lymington IV's whilst Sway III take on Brockenhurst II
at nearby Pennington.
