Fawley
frustrate Sway in Tony Woodhouse
Sway skipper Sam
Nailor lost the crucial toss and was unsurprisingly asked to
bat. Sway made a good start with Laurie Symons and Pete Bennet
looking untroubled. Symons went for 25 but Jack Baughan and
Bennet built up the total as fast as they could given the slow
surface and by the end of the innings Sway had scored 185-3 with
Bennet unbeaten on 67.
In reply Sway
bowled and fielded superbly but just could not break Fawley
down. There was some excellent bowling all round including a
first and ominous bowling pairing of Sam and Max Nailor. The
field was also spot on with great work from Hanni and a direct
hit from Jack Baughan as Fawley suffered 3 unnecessary run-outs.
In the end a very well crafted mature and unbeaten 50 by young N
Shrive
held up one end and which wickets fell periodically at the
other, Fawley ended up on a 100 or so for 7 at the close of
play. All to play for in this years trophy, but Fawley will need
to take some risks if they want to win.
