XI's 100% record goes aat last
PYLEWELL PARK
II 175 - 4 (red target), SWAY III 191. Pylewell won by 6
wickets
With Pylewell
missing most of Friday's downpour the game on Saturday was one
of the few to go ahead, but unfortunately for Sway it ended
their unbeaten start to the season and to compound matters
Pylewell also took top spot form the visitors winning in the end
by six wickets.
Joe Tarrent ended
Pete Hammett's 100% record on winning the toss and elected to
field opening the bowling himself with Ross Clark and Andy Straw
becoming the fifth different opening pair used in Sway's 7
league games so far. These two got away to a brisk start ended
when Tarrent ( 1 - 44 ) bowled Clark for 14 this heralded the
welcome return of the Pieman Francois Joseph Frederic Charton
who was straight into the buffet as he and Straw took the total
on to 56 after 9 overs before an eventful 10th over during which
Charton hit 2 sixes and a late call of non saw Straw run out for
25 but at 70-2 off 10 overs Sway were well placed. Jacob Moore
came in at no. 4 as Charton accelerated bringing up his 50 with
a six before being caught during Simon Pallister's first over
having hit 3 x 6 and 6 x 4 in making 57 from 35 balls. Pallister
picked up two more quick wickets bowling Moore for 11 and having
last weeks hero Charlie Smith caught in the covers leaving Will
Baughan and Sam Harvey to rebuild the innings, both looked in
good form but after a short break for rain Baughan fell for 14
and Harvey became Pallister's 4th victim caught for 22. The last
4 batsmen dug in and managed to use up the overs as Chris Cooper
2 -24 had Jack Ford bowled and Hammett stumped with Steve
Drayton hitting a quick 13 before being bowled with the final
delivery leaving Matthew Brearley not out and the total on 191
which was probably less than it should have been after being
126-4 at halfway.
The adjusted
score was worked out as Pylewell needing to make 172 off 38
overs and Simon Ashby and veteran Sway resident Chris Todd
opened the batting getting going quickly before Todd was caught
by Drayton off of Brearley ( 1 - 20 ) with the score at 27.
Ashby was scoring briskly and being joined by the in form Chris
Melluish Sway needed wickets but unfortunately Charton dropped
an uber dolly catch offered by Ashby off of Drayton and that was
effectively game over. Harvey (2-42 ) trapped the big hitting Melluish
lbw for 39 ( 3 x 6 ) and also had Carl Brooks caught by Smith
and Ford finally had Ashby out for 64 ( 1 x 6 and 11 x 4
) caught by Charton but Chris and Martin Cooper saw Pylewell
home being 34 and 5 not out giving Pylewell 23 points and Sway
8.
