Midweek II lose needle game

Winton B 217-4, Sway II 173ao

In the last game of the indoor season Sway II put up a brave fight but went down to Winton B in what was by all accounts a sometimes ill tempered encounter.

Wintin B batted first and scored an impressive 217-4 helped by two unbeatem half centuries -  64 by Harry Seal and 58 by Chaz May. Things had started brightly for Sway with both openers being dismissed cheaply off Andy Straw and Terry Patch, but whilst Patch later claimed another wicket and Steve Drayton also took a wicket, the scoring rate accelerated considerably. The innings contained what must be a rare indoor sight - Winton running a three to claim 11 runs off just a single ball - bowler Terry Patch must have been fuming! Well done to Dan Stevenson, the only Sway bowler not to bowl a wide or no-ball with all his over's 30 runs coming off the bat !!!

In reply the highlight of the Sway run chase was a fine 36 by Sam Nailor before he was run out. Sway managed just 88 runs off the bat assisted by a stonking 85 in extras off just 11 overs. After 9 overs Sway were actually on 140-3 against Winton's 135-3, but Sway's final 3 wickets fell for just 33 runs as they desperately tried to up the pace.

A big thanks to Pete Bennet, Dapper and everyone else who has help out this season in scoring.
