Midweek I win league with 100% record

Ferndown Wayfarers C 105ao, Sway I 109-3

In the last game of the indoor season Sway I put on one of their best performances of the season to brush aside rival title contenders Ferndown to claim the league title with a 100% record.

Skipper Steve How won the toss and put Ferndown into bat. Opening bowler David Steadman got straight into a good rhythm not allowing Ferndown apparently decent batsmen any easy runs. The pressure told in just the second over when a run out was forced off the bowling of Steve How. In the indoor game slow spin bowling can be very effective as unlike outside the batsmen cannot pull or drive over the top. How employed this to good effect both in his own bowling and that of Alex Hall, with Hall taking 2 caught & bowled's including that of dangerous opener Lee Charlton (20). Dave Marshall's inswingers claimed a clean bowled and Marshall's was frustrated not to get another wicket when Rob Steadman produced a dolly drop that Haribo would be have been proud of. With Winton already struggling badly, a combination of pressure build up and sharp fielding meant that their final wicket fell 3 with 3 balls remaining and with just 105 on the board.

In reply Sway knocked off the runs in comfortable fashion for the loss of 3 wickets and off just 9 overs, helped by 60 in extras. Steve How was top scorer, retired not out on 25. So Sway finished with 7 wins out of 7 and look forward to more challenging games next season in Division 2.

A big thanks to Pete Bennet, Dapper and everyone else who has help out this season in scoring.
