200 wickets for Jack Walton
Jack Walton
became only the third Sway player ever to notch up 200 wickets
when he produced typically miserly display 9.1-2.15-3 for the
first XI away at Hyde in RD1 South on Saturday.
The curly-haired
ball wizard was one of the first colts to graduate to adult
cricket from the club's first U11s team and made his senior
debut aged just 13 back in 2002. The debut was a rain-affected
friendly against Milford in April and whilst the game ended up
as a no result, Walton signalled his arrival with 4-0-13-2.
His 202 wickets
have come at an ever reducing average currently at 16.77 and
with economy of just 3.45 runs per over - and over 60% of his
wickets have come in league games for the 1st team.
Perhaps the
highlight of his career to date was a truly awesome performance
at Bashley IV last year on their artificial strip - bowling 10
overs for just 3 runs and claiming 3 wickets.
