Record breaking day for Nailor & Straw

It was a proud day for the club on Saturday when two of its colts secured places in the record books with outstanding performances in adult league cricket.

Firstly U15 star Andrew Straw became the youngest player ever to make a competitive half century for the club at the tender age of just 14. Putting most of the considerably older players to shame, Straw made a mature and composed 56 for the 4th XI at Ellingham. A just reward for the player who probably practices more than anyone else.

Meanwhile, 16 year old Sam Nailor equalled the best bowling figures in the history of the club taking 7 wickets for just 8 runs against Hedge End for the 3rd XI. This was also the best performance to date this season in the entire Hampshire Cricket League. Whilst the 3rd XI went down to a disappointing defeat, Nailor finished with astonishing figures of 6-2-7-8 !!!

These are fantastic performances by two youngsters who have both come right through the colts ranks at Sway and bodes well for the future for club - as well as keeping a fair few older players on their toes!!!
