2nd XI too strong for Suttoners

Sway II 173-6, Suttoners II 80ao. Sway win b y 93 runs

Sway again lost the toss and were put into bat. Ed Golding and Mark Wright got them off to a good start with a partnership of 48 before Wright played on for 18. Some tight bowling from Straight and off spinner Turner kept the runs down with Golding keeping one end going while 3 cheap wickets went at the other end leaving Sway struggling somewhat at 76 for 4. At 104 Golding, whilst trying to increase the run rate, was stumped off Hopkins for an excellent 39 then Matt Burton (37no) was joined by skipper Pete Bennet (27no) making his first league batting appearance of the season. Both had to do a lot of running in their 65 partnership which took the Sway total to a respectable 173.

Suttoners started off quickly with a couple of lusty blows for 6 from Hunter but some excellent bowling from Jack Ford accounted for his partner with the score on 13. The ever reliable John Wills quickly worked Hunter out and bowled him for 18 and shortly afterwards picked up his second wicket having Hopkins well caught at slip by Burton leaving them on 30 for 3. An excellent 5 over spell by Rob Steadman picked up only one wicket and had Suttoners in trouble. Ford was then brought back into the attack and in just 11 balls, cleared up 4 of the last 5 wickets to fall in a superb exhibition of accurate, fast bowling to end with his first 5 wicket haul for only 17 runs. Matt Burton picked up the other wicket leaving Suttoners all out for 80, Sway winning by 93 runs and remaining unbeaten at the top of the league.
