ELLINGHAM III 145ao. Sway won by 135 runs
Sway 2nd's continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comprehensive victory at Poulner School. Based on consistent batting through the order Sway racked up 280-4 with opener Ed Golding (55) making his first half century for the club putting on 128 for the 2nd wicket with Steve How. How made a welcome return to form with the bat and went on to make 60, then with the score at 172-4 French legend Francoise Joseph Charton (72 n.o) and Ian Stone (40 n.o) added an unbroken 108 runs for the 5th wicket. C.Bagshot 2-50 was Ellingham's most successful bowler assisted by R.Chan 1-38 and M.Karellis 1-60. B.Sullivan and M.Dodd got Ellingham away to a solid start in their quest to pass the large total set for them putting on 42 for the opening wicket. The august John Wills wheezed his way through 10 overs conceding just 24 runs and picking up the wicket of Sullivan for 24. Sway rang the bowling changes at the other end and Stone 2-11 got Dodd for 32 and apart from Z.Chilman (24) the bowlers were on top, principally Matthew Burton who mopped up the tail taking 4-12 helped by Golding 2-19 and Mark Wright 1-11. Mention must be made of the fielding with Pete Bennet getting a stumping and 7 catches being held with Will Holyhead taking 2 on his League debut.
