Help for Heroes - Thank You

Sway club captain Jon Grasham would like to thank everyone who sponsored him in the Help for Heroes charity match played Thurs 17th June at Citylets Grange Club Cricket Ground in Edinburgh. Jon was playing as a Scottish forces player (long story) against Scotland. The Scottish team was primarily B team players with several key players pushing for selection to play England on Sat 19th june at the same ground.

The game was played to raise money for Help for Heroes which is a charity organisation to support injured British forces service men and woman.

Before start of play the match ball was parachuted in by 4 members of the Parachute display team and at half time a Tornado Fighter Jet did a fly by to mark the occasion.

Scotland won the toss and batted first achieving an incredible 249 off 20 overs only losing 2 wickets. You can see Jon getting dispatched in the footage. The Scottish Forces team were realistic in their run chase and had agreed a 3 figure score would be an achievement within itself therefore getting 117 all out everyone was happy. Jon especially grateful for modern day helmets as he took a ball into the grill.

A big thank you again for all your generosity and support. I really do appreciate it especially after having some near misses in Afghanistan myself.

Take a look at some of the photos.
