Symons stars as U15s beat Pylewell Park Sway 146-3. Pylewell Park 101-5 - Sway won by 45 runs Sway U15s bounced back from two very narrow defeats to comprehensively beat Pylewell Park at Jubilee Fields. Sway lost the loss and were put into bat on a slow wicket after rain the previous day. Notwithstanding this, the Sway openers of skipper David Steadman and Niall Gallagher got off to a good start making 44 off 6 overs before Gallagher was caught at slip off the bowling of Woolgar jnr - unlucky to get a ball that completely died. Joe Fussell joined Steadman and Sway continued to score freely until Steadman retired yet again on 40 not out. Steadman with 174 runs this season has now scored 331 runs for the U15s at an average of 30.8 passing the previous best of 282 set by Sam Nailor. Fussell was then joined by Max Baybut who had the freedom to enjoy himself in a pinch hitting role - smashing a quick fire 13 before being caught behind. Fussell's new partner is the much improved Laurie Symons who stepped up the run rate with a personal best of 35 included 7 boundaries and some fine strokes. With the support of the classy Fussell (29no) at the other end, Sway finished up with a huge total of 146-3 of 18 overs - the equivalent if well over 300 in adult 42 over game. It looked a daunting task for Pylewell in reply especially against the pace and accuracy of Andrew Straw and Steadman. The two strike bowlers were on top form as Pylewell teetered on the brink of collapse. Steadman took three wickets for just 10 runs off his 4 overs and Straw two wickets for just 8 and Pylewell found themselves 5 wickets down and well behind the run rate. The bowling attack was backed up by some much improved fielding all round with young Henry Marden pin particular producing a faultless performance. Sway however took their eyes off their ball and a fine partnership developed between Woolgar jnr (42 retired) and Luseby (37) and for a moment it looked possible that Pylewell might record one of the most amazing victories. When Luseby was bowled by the returning Straw and remaining Pylewell hopes disappeared and Sway eventually finished up comfortable winners by 45 runs.
