8th May 2010 REGIONAL DIVISION 4 CENTRAL TOTTON AND ELING IV 150 SWAY III 151-8 Playing at the quaint forest ground in Bartley, Totton made a steady start on a pitch with low bounce until the 17th over when a mix up resulted in J.Shade being run out for 23 with the total at 51. James Howard (1-24) became Sway 3rd's first bowler to get a wicket when bowling J.Skipworth for 9 and when opener K.Humbler was caught and bowled by Chris Baughan (1-21) for a recalcitrant 39 wickets started to fall more regularly, Tony Owen taking 3-47 assisted by David Steadman 2-21 and Sam Nailor 1-18 as Totton were all out for 150. Sway's start was similar to their opponents as Dave Hurrell and Pete Hammett put on 61 for the first wicket but with both falling for 29 a mini collapse ensued leaving the score at 86-5, J.Skipworth 4-50 doing the damage. Brief but quick innings from Will Baughan and Jacob Moore got Sway back in the game and a responsible knock of 25 not out by David Steadman finally saw them home in the 40th over. A winning start for newly appointed captain Steve Keen as the 3rd team adapt to life in a new region of their league. |
