Week 1 Round up -

The first  full week of the league cricket season has been a superb one for the club - recording 6 wins and just 2 defeats.

1st XI

In their debut game in Div 1 South, the 1st XI recorded a crushing 10 wicket victory at CBBEA. Sway had the hosts on the ropes early doors, but CBBEA recovered 164-8 - a reasonable score considering the damp conditions. However, in reply Adam Clark and Alex Hall bludgeoned the bowlers all over the place, knocking off the runs in just 17 overs with Clark scoring 113 no out  - his maiden ton. Alex Hall 41* played his part in a club record partnership of 165.

2nd XI

The seconds crushed New Milton IV at Jubilee Fields. Matt Bramwell grabbed a 5-wicket haul as New Milton were bowled out for just 102. In reply, Sway knocked off the runs for the loss of just 1 wicket with the big hitting Chris Hammond scoring an unbeaten 50 on his debut.

3rd XI

The 3rds went to Bartley to play Totton 4ths. Bowling first Sway restricted Totton to 150-9. In reply Sway made it home with 2 wickets to spare with U15 skipper David Steadman impressing with 28 not out.

4th XI

The new fourth team put up a brave fight in their debut game before going down to Christchurch by 5 wickets. Batting first Sway made 135-9 with Ian Stone 51 not out - his first half century. In reply Christchurch made it to a rain revised target of 120 with 5 wickets in hand.

U17s

The U17s unfortunately lost to Bransgore at Jubilee Fields.

U15s

The U15s put in a fine performance away to Hythe. Batting first Sway racked up 139-1 off just 18 overs. This included a superb opening partnership of 75 between David Steadman (40*) and Niall Gallagher (35). Gus Wooley then stepped up to club a quickfire 26. In reply Hythe put up a good fight, but the total always looked too much.

U13s

The U13s came out on top in an exciting game at Pylewell Park. Batting first Sway scored 95-5 with Dominic Woodfine recording an excellent unbeaten 33. The match went right down to the final over, however, Sway bowled fielded well to squeak a deserved win.

U11s

The U11s made it two wins out of two with a fine victory over Beaulieu - and are still to lose a wicket!. With all but one of the Yr6s absent, Sway looked to be up against it, but the youngsters pulled off a win in the final over. Batting first Sway made 275 with George Lewis 17*. In the field Sway managed to take 5 wickets. Thomas Burton, smashing the record as the youngest player to play for the club, took a wicket on his debut. In the last over the scores were almost level, however, Ryan Drayton took 3 wickets to seal the win - a caught & bowled, a bowled, and a run-out.
