Atty Attack sinks Farley

SWAY   228-8, FARLEY   73-5 Rain stopped play

A Sway 1st XI traveled to Farley who play in Regional Division 1 North so offering a similar standard to what they should face this season.

Adam Clark and Alex Hall put on 71 for the first wicket before Clark was caught and bowled by M.Snell for 28, bringing Steve How to the wicket. Hall carried on to once again retire at 51 and How went on to hit 32 but it was a whirlwind innings from Nilantha Atapattu who after being dropped first ball smashed six 6's and four 4's in a 28 ball 57, so rapid was this knock that the confused scorers were caught out as he hit the first 3 balls of the 31st over for 6 actually passing 50 with the 2nd one. Farley bowler G.Ramsey did get Sway in to a stew by cooking up a hat trick in the final over and with Hall and Atapattu not ready Jon Grasham declared the Sway innings closed with 2 deliveries remaining.

Robert Steadman with 2 early wickets put Farley into immediate trouble and despite a brief recovery wickets for Steve Thistleton (who had earlier completed his 1,000 runs - 100 wicket double) and Ross Clark plus a run out Farley were teetering at 73-5 after 21.2 overs when the rain arrived to finish the game early.
