24th April 2010 Trojans 180ao, Sway "B" 142ao. Sway lost by 38 runs Andy Glasspool led the Sway team in this friendly at the neutral venue of North Walls in Winchester and with the opening batsmen in full flight including 3 lost balls in the nearby river a long day looked in prospect for the Sway fielders. David Steadman and James Howard were the opening bowlers and they both performed well with one sharp catch going down and a smart stumping from impressive new keeper Brian Beeston being ruled not out it was left to Mark Wright to claim the first wicket when T.Prowten (30) miscued a hoik and Dave Hurrell ( who recognizes a miscued hoik better than most) took the catch in the deep. Tight spells from Ian Stone and debutant Ed Golding slowed things up and it was Golding who struck next bowling J.Hodder for 17, Sarge Willson set the pace for the F.J.Charton pie award going for 15 in his first over then in his next he trapped the courtly A.Raja (67) lbw and bowled J.Stevenson first ball to leave the score at 125-4 after 22 overs. Sarge's hat trick ball was hit for 3 but he did claim another victim to finish with 3-21 as the middle order was ripped out by the returning Steadman who claimed 3-32 from his 10 overs. Howard and Stone knocked over the last 2 wickets Beeston stumping Trojans skipper S.Hill for 20 leaving the final total at 180. The tea was a bring your own set up with Dapper Howard obviously thinking that Wills and Corder were playing as he had a plenteousness supply of food, after which Sway's reply got off to a more sedate start than Trojans as Hurrell and Golding put on 40 for the first wicket before Golding was smartly run out and Hurrell was caught behind shortly afterwards. A middle order wobble followed before some late lusty hitting from Wright (19) and some elegant stroke play from Steadman 26 not out pushed the score up to 142 with A.Nasheed 3-19 and J.Harris 3-27 being the principal wicket takers.
