Sway Overseas Tour

Steve How is set to be the first Sway skipper to lead his team overseas for a decade when the club embarks on its one-match tour of the Isle of Wight on Sunday June 6th!

This idea was first mooted by Dave Hurrell and Steve Drayton for September 2009 however the chosen opponents made it into the Island's play off system which is similar to the Football League and they were otherwise engaged. A new fixture has now been arranged against Ventnor's Sunday 2nd XI. One note of caution for the more avaricious club members is the added cost of Ferry foot passenger plus a charge for minibus transport to the ground and of course the usual friendly costs incurred.

Ventnor do Sunday lunches at their clubhouse. Steve Keen has worked out the cost, and it's a lot for a golden duck and three dropped catches!! Ferry is £11.60 pp, minibus (provided by them) likely about £5 pp, plus teas (not heard yet, but £3-4 pp is the norm), so we're looking at each player forking out £20 just for the privilege of going. Ventnor say "the beach is just 5 minutes walk from the ground if you want to bring the family!" so a family day out is an option.
