2010 League Fixtures Revealed

Well here we are - that psychological step that gives the first glimmer of new season amidst the winter gloom. What a lot of cricket there will be - 72  league games scheduled and quite a few miles traveled.
Distance wise however, it could have been much worse especially for Keeno's traveling willberries  in the 3rds.

The first team start their D1S campaign away at CBBEA - not likely to be the strongest team, however, the Winton pitch has a reputation and is likely to make batting difficult and offer quite a bit for the bowlers. They then face testing games against two other promoted side's - North Baddersely with their demon all-rounder Amjad "the surgeon" Parvaiz and Burley skippered by talented Aussie (oxymoron?) Kieran Hudson. The firsts have avoided some long trips but will have to make the longest possible trip to Compton (nr Chichester in middle of nowhere) and also trek over to Porchester.

Both the seconds and the 4th are spared any long drives due to being in the SW region. The seconds will be confident of picking up a win in their opening day fixture at home to New Milton IV whereas the new 4th team is likely to face a challenging game at home to Christchurch. Before May is out, the 2nds and the 4ths are set to clash at Jubilee Fields - with the 3rd team all the way off to Knowle near Wickham that afternoon and the firsts only at Bransgore, the Hare and Hounds is likely to have run out of beer by the time Keeno's weary troops return from battle.

The 3rd team have avoided some long journey's  but still have some pretty long hikes to Knowle, Otterborne (Twyford) and BTC Southampton....wherever that is! (actually its at Stoneham Lane. Ed.). So all very close to motorway junctions.  +++++STOP PRESS++++ Cancel that, the fixtures have been revised and the 3rds will now face Knowle at home with the replacement away game being a much nearer Langley Manor
