Sway II given a Hyding!
Sway II 89ao, Hyde 90-5
|
Some tight bowling by Hyde and poor batting/running from Sway II saw Sway go down to defeat. In the end Sway very nearly bowled their way to victory, but in truth the game was lost with the bat. Hyde won the toss and put Sway in to bat who got off to a disastrous start when Steve Hannibal went for a golden, chipping a catch to mid-on. Hyde's opening pair were bowling well and building the pressure on Sway and this paid off when Rick How was caught for 18. Dave Marshall and Rob Steadman tried to up the run rate but disaster struck when first Marshall conspired to run out Steadman then topped that by running himself out. When perennial rabbit Matt Bramwell was dismissed for a second golden of the day, it was left to indoor debutant FJ "Ahole in the roof" Charton to try and post a defendable score but when he too was run out Sway had been dismissed for just 89 of which 42 were extras!! It was clear that Sway would have to bowl Hyde out and they gave it a good shot. Fine bowling spells from Rob Steadman (3-0-21-1) and Matt Bramwell (3-0-34-1). Dave Marshall (2.2-0-25-1) and Charton (1-0-11-1) also picked up wicket meaning that Sway were just 1 wicket away from an unlikely victory but excellent agressive batting by Hyde's T Beer (49*) Sway Hyde over the line.
