Seconds trump thirds to end season in style REGIONAL DIVISION 4 SW SWAY II 187-9, SWAY III 67. Sway II won by 120 runs Sway 2nds and 3rds met at Jubilee Fields and when 2nds skipper Pete Bennet won the toss he chose to bat first hoping to extend the recent run of wins. Bennet opened with himself and Ross Clark and they put on 51 together before Bennet was trapped lbw by Steve Drayton for 28 but Clark and new bat Rick How carried on and had added a further 56 when Mark Wright's spin accounted for How also for 28. Indeed from the very promising position of 101-1 at drinks it was the introduction of left arm spin twins Wright and Tony Owen who not only stemmed the flow of runs but also picked up wickets Wright taking 3-34 including Clark for an excellent 58 and Owen finishing with 2-34. Veteran Steve Wilson 2-32 joined in the wicket taking as Robert Steadman struck a quick 18 leaving last pair Matthew Brearley and Matt Bramwell to pick up a sixth batting point as the innings closed at 187-9. Wilson and Will Baughan opened for Sway 3rds and both fell to well taken catches Steadman at close cover holding a diving one handed catch to dismiss Wilson off Charlie Smith 1-19 and Dave Hurrell at slip accounting for Baughan off Bramwell 2-11. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals with only Drayton (15 n.o) offering some resistance as good bowling from Steadman 2-9, Brearley 2-9 and the evergreen John Wills 3-13 hastened the 3rds to a comprehensive 120 run defeat.
