Sway II too strong for Horlde

RD4SW: Hordle II 33ao, Sway II 34-4. Sway won by 6 wickets

A depleted Hordle team comprising of just 8 players turned up at a damp Jubilee Fields and captain John Steeds on winning the toss deceided to bat first. There was some early run scoring and a dogged innings from former Sway player and Pennington legend Graham Toms but the final total only reached 33 with the evergreen John Wills ( 3-7 ) enjoying the conditions almost as much as his post match meal. The remaining wickets were shared amongst Nick Shaw 1-5, Matthew Brearley 1-9 and the dapper James Howard 1-9 plus an unfortunate run out.

Needing only 34 runs for victory the Sway reply is probably best quickly forgotten although Andy Varney 1-7 bowled with his usual accuracy and was getting some movement off the wicket. Sway did eventually get the required runs for the loss of 4 wickets ( Ken Bishop 2-28 plus a run out) however the loss of 2 batting points wasn't helpful as the 2nd's look to try and close the gap on the teams above.
