Batting woes again for Sway 2nd XI
RD4SW Sway II 133ao, Beaulieu 138-2. Sway lost by 8 wickets
|
Sway's 2nd XI made the pleasant trip over to Beaulieu but the day was soured by a comprehensive 8 wicket defeat which again exposed the teams batting frailties. Batting first, Sway lost Steve Keen trapped LBW with the score on 19. However a decent contribution of 27 from fellow opener and Sway legend Dave Hurrell meant that at 62-2 Sway were in a decent position. However that soon turned to 64-4 when Hurrell was dismissed along with Charles Sugden (7). Will Baughan made 20 in a partnership with in-form Robert Steadman before being adjudged LBW. Steadman was then left stranded on 24no as the Sway tail complete failed to wag with the last 5 wickets falling for just 15 runs. Sway's total of 133 was never going to be enough on a decent pitch and quick outfield and so it proved with Beaulieu knocking off the total for the loss of just 2 wickets. |
