1st XI conquer Verwood

RD2SW Sway I 192-7, Verwood 136. Sway won by 56 runs

Sway traveled to high flying Verwood looking to build on last weeks success and although three of that side were absent the team were still hopeful of putting up a decent performance. Batting first Sway were 77 - 4 with makeshift opener Alex Hall joined by the recalled Henry Thornton and these two batted excellently during a 76 run partnership both being dismissed in successive overs Thornton for 39 and Hall for a meritorious 82. Jack Walton and Steve Thistleton both added late runs and the innings closed just short of maximum batting points at 192 - 7 with D.Thompson 2 - 42 and S.McLeanards 2 -43 the pick of the bowlers.

Verwoods reply started with an early run out and soon waned to 32 - 4 Jon Grasham and Walton inflicting the early damage. Only captain John Driscoll (34) hung around for any lenght of time as Terry Patch 2-32 helped by Thistleton and Charlie Smith took further wickets and Grasham 3 - 32 also returned to the bowling attack as Verwood were all out for 136.
