|
Sway traveled to high flying Verwood looking to build on last weeks success and although three of that side were absent the team were still hopeful of putting up a decent performance. Batting first Sway were 77 - 4 with makeshift opener Alex Hall joined by the recalled Henry Thornton and these two batted excellently during a 76 run partnership both being dismissed in successive overs Thornton for 39 and Hall for a meritorious 82. Jack Walton and Steve Thistleton both added late runs and the innings closed just short of maximum batting points at 192 - 7 with D.Thompson 2 - 42 and S.McLeanards 2 -43 the pick of the bowlers. Verwoods reply started with an early run out and soon waned to 32 - 4 Jon Grasham and Walton inflicting the early damage. Only captain John Driscoll (34) hung around for any lenght of time as Terry Patch 2-32 helped by Thistleton and Charlie Smith took further wickets and Grasham 3 - 32 also returned to the bowling attack as Verwood were all out for 136.
