3rd XI Suffer Batting Collapse
RD4SW Sway III 113, Beaulieu 116-2, Sway lost by 8 wickets
|
Put into bat Sway lost Mark Wright early on but that brought in form skipper Andy Glasspool to the middle to join "Sarge" Willson and these two took the score on to 57 before Glasspool (39) was bowled by Denis Batchelor, with Wright out to J.Singleton there must be a pun somewhere! Charles Sugden was out cheaply and the 3rd's tried to confuse Beaulieu by promoting Andy Hillyar to number 5 but when he was out for 3 only Sam Harvey with 8 managed to better Hillyar's effort. Amongst the carnage Willson compiled a patient 26, Bachelor (2-11) returning to trap him lbw and A.Winder polished off the innings finishing with 6-32. Nick Shaw and Hillyar opened the bowling and it was Shaw 1-25 who got the breakthrough bowling C.Bannel for 17 with the score at 38. Back from various injuries and ailments old warrior Mike Race picked up the wicket of A.Winder bowled for 15 but this proved to be the last success as Alan Varley 53 n.o and A.Cookson 13 n.o guided Beaulieu home in the 25th over. Once again F.J.Charton's pie shop remained closed though rumours are circulating that he is defrosting some for Wednesday evenings friendly with Pylewell, people with a nervous disposition or suffering from high blood pressure, and heavily pregnant women (sounds like the 3rd's middle order) have been warned.
