3rd XI off mark with convincing first win.

RD4SW: Alderholt II 87 all out, Sway 91-5, Sway won by 5 wickets

Sway 3rd's traveled to Alderholt looking to record their first win of the season and tried another new ball pairing of Nick Shaw and Sam Harvey, who both bowled tidily with Harvey picking up the wicket of F.Witt with the score at 15. After 10 overs the experienced duo Andy Hillyar and Matthew Brearley entered the attack, Brearley striking early to remove the other opener C.Barratt lbw for 8. D.Groggin (28) helped firstly by B.Westwood who was caught behind by Andy Glasspool off of Brearley and M.Puttock revitalized the Alderholt batting and at 70 - 3 things looked to be set for a good total. However 5 wickets fell in successive overs and when Brearley 5 - 24 and Hillyar 2 - 35 completed their allotted overs the score stood at 79 - 8 leaving Shaw 1 - 16 and Harvey 2 - 9 to return and pick up the last 2 wickets with the total reaching a reticent 87.

In reply amidst a frenzy of extras Sway lost their first 5 wickets for 57 with S.Rose 2 -34 and M.Puttock 2 - 12 benefiting most from some agrestic strokeplay, only Charles Sugden (15) making double figures. Skipper Andy Glasspool 13 n.o and Sam Harvey 20 n.o then batted with great equanimity to take Sway to victory in the 22nd over.

With the next match against Beaulieu renowned for their teas it will be interesting to see if the Melton Mowbray Maestro is given the nod to unleash a Gallic Gourmet of Gastronomic Gratifications or not.
