3rds throw away victory chance
RD4SW: Langley Manor 171-8, Sway 137 all out. Sway lost by 34 runs
|
Sway rd XI threw away a good chance of victory with a remarkable turn of events down at Pennington. Batting first Langley Manor posted a decent total of 171-8. Pick of the Sway bowlers was James Howard who put in his best figures for the club taking 4 wickets to finish with 8-1-4-35. In reply Sway got off to a terrible start with the first 3 batmen scoring a single run between them sending the Duckometer spinning. Dan Stevenson however put on 41 for the 4th wicket alongside skipper Andy Glasspool. Stevenson was caught with the score on 51 however, Glasspool in partnership with Will Baughan took the score onto 128 - a partnership of 77. Along the way Glasspool completed his maiden half century for the club before eventually being caught behind for 54. Whilst the score was at 128 for 4, with oodles of overs in hand, Sway seemed on course for victory. Glasspool's dismissal however was followed by a bizarre set of circumstances. Langley Manor brought on a young bowler who in just 11 balls claimed all 5 remaining Sway wickets to wrap up victory for Langley Manor in extraordinary circumstances. |
