Sway 2nd XI push Burley all the way

Sway III 149-9,  Burley II 153-7

Sway 3rd's made the short journey to Burley for their second game of the season and were put into bat on a green wicket with some uneven bounce. With Sway struggling on 18-3 Burley had the better start before Dan Stevenson (21) and Sam Harvey (15) patiently got Sway back in the game taking the total past 50, however both were bowled by former Mudeford player M.Gaffney-Dodds who finished up with 2-20 off his 10 overs. The Baughan brothers Will and Jack accelerated the scoring putting on 43 runs for the 7th wicket, Will continuing his good form from last week making 40 and Jack hitting 23. David Steadman struck 2 straight fours in the last over but the total finished one run short of a 5th batting point, with J.Rapson 4-40, W.Brooks 2-24 and C.Rees 1-20 taking the other wickets.

J.Maher (30) and S.Moorman (19) got Burley away to a flying start being 49-1 in the 9th over when Andy Hillyar 1-44 trapped Maher lbw. Sam Harvey and Mark Wright then tightened things up with some fine bowling both picking up 2 wickets Harvey for 19 and Wright 30 and with a run out and David Steadman (1-40) also getting a wicket it was W.Brooks 32 not out who guided Burley home after 37 overs. Andy Glasspool was far happier with the fielding Chris Baughan and Dan Hancock both taking catches and the wides count was down from last week, finally thanks to 2nd team captain Pete Bennett for umpiring and getting a close look at his next opponents.

Sam Harvey - Fine all round performance from the lad being spoken out as having the potential to be the new John Wills (not that there is anything wrong with the old one!)
